I had an epiphany recently. For those who know me well, you know that I’m on a constant search for learning new ways to be a better business owner, a better employer, a better CPA, a better resource. It started out career focused.
As I’ve gotten a bit older, grew a few more gray hairs from stress, and hopefully became a little wiser, I’ve realized that this constant search is really about wanting to be a better human being.
To be the best version of myself as possible with everyone I come into contact, no matter if its business or my personal life.
It didn’t matter if it was a book on business, intuition, or stress management, CPA conferences, or hearing people like my coach, other owners, my team, ministers, or famous people like Marcus Lemonis, Dave Ramsey, Tony Robbins, or Bert Jacobs founder of Life is Good; they all had one thing in common – work on yourself to be the very best version of you there is. Help each other and remember you have to take care of yourself too. Taking care of oneself has proven a lot easier said than done in my experience.
With this newfound insight I started recalling all the amazing conversations I was having with those closest to me. Sharing these cool things I was learning and how they related to both our lives. Over the year I’ve seen how these little bits would pop up in positive ways in both our lives from those conversations. Then I realized, why am I not sharing this stuff with as many people as I can? These things help me out, I’ve seen they’ve helped others out, why not share? Well maybe because I’m a CPA and we’re supposed to fit into this tidy little box.
I’m not interested in tidy little boxes or labels. When you read our posts you’ll know why I tossed my tidy little CPA box out the window. If something we learned the hard way can save another the pain and suffering or loss of money, we’re sharing! That’s the OnaWay.
