Our local, woman owned CPA firm is growing organically and through acquisition and we need help serving our wonderful clients. With over 1400 clients and two locations we have the coziness of a small firm but offer the opportunity and environment of a large modern firm. Position Overview

This is a full time position based in our Northampton, Mass location. Some office hours are required but we are flexible to some remote work.

Mission

The mission of our Bookkeeper is to provide stellar customer service to our clients providing accurate, neat financial data leaving them confident everything is taken care of. We want someone who loves people, is super organized, patient, stable, adaptable and an excellent communicator in all fashions. Someone who understands that the quality of their work is a demonstration of how much they care, so they show up each and every time.

There is plenty of variety and room for growth in this position as you will be doing the books for a variety of clients in varying degrees. The most important responsibility of the Bookkeeper is to ensure that projects are completed with a high level of efficiency, confidentiality, accuracy, flexibility, and positivity in order to support our clients. If you can do that and don’t crack under pressure, there’s no limit what you can do here!

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple client relationships
  • Weekly bill pay and cash balancing
  • Monthly bookkeeping data entry
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Sales tax filings
  • Weekly payroll processing
  • Monthly and quarterly payroll tax deposits and return filings
  • Year-end W2s and 1099s
  • Review bookkeeping jobs for junior teammates
  • Cash receipts (AR)
  • Review and prepare monthly financial statements
  • Training/consult clients with bookkeeping
  • Clean-up books we inherit, developing simple, consistent processes

Proficiencies

Knowledge: The Bookkeeper must have extensive prior bookkeeping experience to be able to walk in and pick the ball up and run with it. Full knowledge of a balance sheet and profit and loss as well as payroll from start to finish. Must be able to maintain cash balances to provider owners the knowledge to make decisions regarding their cash flow.

Quality Communication: The Bookkeeper must be an excellent communicator, in both written and oral form. Our clients expect us to be friendly and easy to work with yet laser accurate and knowledgeable. Although accounting tends to be a number cruncher role, being an effortless communicator is a must for us. We need you to portray confidence when working with our clients.

High Level of Discretion: Since our Bookkeeper will regularly work with confidential information, discretion and sensitivity is a must. You’ll know many of the small businesses from our communities and their privacy is a complete must.

Affinity for Technology: Our Bookkeeper will be technologically savvy and not intimidated by learning new technology. We have the best accounting software money can buy in a fully virtual setup and seek at all times to enhance our technology. Proficiency in the following tech platforms is needed: Office365, Quickbooks Online and desktop versions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Degree not necessary
Experience: significant prior experience managing multiple companies books at once. 10+ years

Job Type: Full time hourly position. Will consider part-time for the right person. For full-time employees we offer: health, health savings plan, IRA with 3% match, company paid LT disability, life insurance and generous PTO.

Start Date: Immediate

Bonus: $1000 sign on bonus after 6 months of successful employment and plans to stay on long-term
