Position Overview
This is a full time position that reports directly to the partners of the firm and is based in our Northampton, Mass location. Flexible schedule and partial remote working available. Tax season OT is required but has sweet perks like lots of summer time off!

Mission
The mission of our CPA is to take excellent care of our clients and play a leadership role in our firm. There’s a saying “heavy is the head that wears the crown”, becoming a senior leader requires hard-work, dedication, top-notch morals and loyalty to our clients, team and company. This role is ideal for someone who is serious about their career, loves local community, doesn’t jive with large corporate stuffiness, and thrives on seeing the direct impact your hands-on work produces. The CPA will be given (and responsible) for managing their own client base. We are acquiring a local firm and need your help to take lead on these new client relationships. It’s imperative that you garner trust and confidence in your willingness to serve and ability to handle responsibility.

Responsibilities
• Manage client relationships
• Prepare individual, business & nonprofit income tax returns
• Prepare compilation & review financial statements
• Review tax returns and financial statements prepared by junior teammates
• Have the heart of a teacher and enjoy training and overseeing junior teammates
• Assist clients in developing or improving accounting procedures (usually with Quickbooks)
• Go-to for sales tax issues
• Tax planning
• Learn and grow your tax & accounting knowledge in an ever changing environment and keep the team informed
• Research
• Business valuation assistance
• Work with Managing Partner on firm improvements
• Firm advocate: bring in new business and take lead on potential new client inquiries

Proficiencies
Knowledge: The CPA will have serious technical brainpower and the ability to communicate in an easy to understand manner to both clients and the team in the areas of tax and accounting. Radical change in our profession demands a thirst for knowledge, keeping up to date is crucial.

Quality Communication: The CPA must be an excellent communicator, in both written and oral form. Part of OnaWay’s success is that we are personable. This is not a behind the scenes number crunching job. While that’s part of our days, communicating takes up a large and important part. Public accounting is fast paced, you’ll be required to keep track of the status of multiple open jobs and follow-up in a respectful, appropriate manner keeping the job moving along.

High Level of Discretion: Since our CPA will regularly work with confidential information, discretion and sensitivity is a must. You will know these local clients, keeping their privacy safe is paramount.

Anticipating Needs: We want to wow our clients. In order to do that we need to strive to anticipate needs and eliminate friction whenever possible. This means you know how to stay five steps ahead and work with your teammates to deliver timely, quality, informative client outreach education.

Affinity for Technology: Our CPA will be technologically savvy and not intimidated by learning new technology. We have the best accounting software money can buy in a fully virtual setup and seek at all times to enhance our technology. Proficiency in the following tech platforms is ideal: Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks, Thomson Reuters accounting and tax programs (UltraTax, WorkpaperCS, PracticeCS, FixedAssetCS and FileCabinet).

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: CPA license & accounting degree required
Experience: 7+ years public accounting experience in tax
Job Type: Full Time, salary. Benefits include: health insurance, company paid ST/LT disability & life insurance, SimpleIRA with 3% match, bonus potential, generous PTO, flex schedule, partial remote work potential
Start Date: Fall 2020
Bonus: $2,500 sign on bonus after 6 months of successful employment and plans to stay on long-term
